Texty Tuesdays

Texty Tuesdays are back! Join us in this exciting 4-part series where we learn about all things text.

Each Texty Tuesday session includes interactive writing exercises, group discussions, drawing, and other forms of artistic expression. It's also a fantastic opportunity to meet fellow wordsmiths, share ideas, and feel inspired.

Don't worry if you're new to writing or if you're a seasoned pro - everyone is welcome! We believe that everyone has a story to tell, and this event is all about celebrating the power of words.

Texty Tuesdays are free to participate, however registration is required!

Session Calendar:

March 19th, 6pm-8pm: Expressive Response to bienes importados

Yes, we will write poetry to visual art! Participants will be guided through the exhibition "bienes importados / imported goods" by Anahí González, which explores migration, Mexican labour for/within Canada, Canadian imperialism, and identity with questions relating to commerce, systems of power and the event of photography through installation, photography, and moving images. You will express your response to the exhibition aesthetically in the form of writing, drawing, or both. We will make 'zines or chapbooks to hold your response.

April 16th, 6pm-8pm: National Poetry Month (NaPoMo)

NaPoMo 2024 has the theme of "weather". Join this national movement, and come make your own poetry 'zine or chapbook on the theme. We will read poems about weather, we will write poems about the weather, and produce, on-the-spot, illustrated 'zines and chapbooks.
